Two people are injured, with one fighting for his life after a shooting Monday morning in Jefferson County.

State Police say it happened after an argument between the two at Bailey’s Auto Refinishing in Carthage just after 7 a.m.

Officials say one man was rushed to Carthage Area Hospital with a gunshot wound and is in critical condition. The second man was injured, but was treated at the scene.

That second person was able to run to a nearby home to get a neighbor to call 911.

Police say there are no safety concerns for the public as they have accounted for everyone involved, but there is a lot to learn about what happened and why.

"It looks like this, it looks like a dispute between the two men occured inside the garage. If you notice, there's shots that went through the windows of the garage. It appears it occured in the garage. We have evidence to show that. We're still trying to piece together what occured, whether the two men knew each other, didn't know each other, that's still yet to be determined," said New York State Police Officer Jack Keller.

As part of its investigation, police were using a drone to take pictures from overhead of both the garage and the nearby area.
