WORCESTER, Mass. - Two women with special ties to Worcester are celebrating big milestones.

Lillian Kane is celebrating her 101st birthday.

Before retiring, Kane was a well-known local hairdresser.

Florence Scarpaci is celebrating her 100th birthday. She is believed to be one of Worcester State University's oldest graduates.  Scarpaci graduated in 1943 from what was then known as the Worcester State Teachers College and became an art teacher.

Scarpaci said, "I am quite honored that they would do all this for me and for Lillian."

Kane said, "Its wonderful to think that they take the time to come down and do this for me. What else can I say? You know."

Scarpaci was also honored with a Key to the City on Wednesday.
