WORCESTER, Mass. - Film crew members with Apple Studios unloaded equipment behind Mechanics Hall in Worcester on Wednesday as they prepare for filming of "Spirited" to begin.

Crew members tell Spectrum News 1, crews will be at Mechanics Hall for at least the remainder of the month and Waldo Street -- which runs between Foster and Exchange Streets -- will be closed through the rest of July.

As Spectrum News 1 reported last month, "Spirited" is being produced for AppleTV+ and is starring Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell.

“Spirited" is a musical rendition of the Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol."

According to IMDB.com, “Spirited” (listed on the site as “Christmas Carol”) is “A musical version of the classic Christmas story by Charles Dickens. A miserly man who treats everyone around him with terrible selfishness finds himself on a fantastical adventure into the three phases of time: past, present, and future, in order to discover how he ended up so miserable and alone.”

"Spirited” will also be filmed in Braintree, according to IMDB.

The movie will mark the second AppleTV+ production in Worcester, as the 2020 mini-series “Defending Jacob” starring Chris Evans also filmed scenes in Worcester.

“Spirited” will also mark the second movie starring Reynolds in Worcester. Scenes for Reynolds’ movie “Free Guy” were filmed in downtown Worcester in 2019. The movie is being released on Aug. 13.

“Spirited” is directed by Sean Anders and John Morris, according to IMDB.com.

"Confess, Fletch” starring actor Jon Hamm was also filming in Worcester on Wednesday and crews were set up at the Worcester Police Department headquarters.

“Confess, Fletch” is a reboot of the original movie “Fletch” filmed in 1985 starring Chevy Chase and based on the 1974 novel “Fletch” by Gregory McDonald.
