WORCESTER, Mass. - The Worcester Public Library finished a $13 million renovation and threw a block party on Saturday to celebrate.

The renovation was at their Main Branch location and added new technology like 3D printers and a new children's room.

The community celebration took over Salem Square and Library Lane with vendors, food trucks and a baby animal petting zoo.

The library adopted a new slogan “You belong here” and is encouraging anyone and everyone to stop in and check out a book.

"We have not done anything like this in a long time. This is my first big block party with the community,” the library’s executive director, Jason Homer, said  “I joined the WPL about eight months ago, so I am super excited to be able to see all of our patrons again and celebrate this space with everyone"

The City's Health and Human Services department was also at the party, administering free COVID-19 vaccinations.
