WORCESTER, Mass. - The WooSox unveiled their new Care-A-Van in Worcester's Main South neighborhood Saturday afternoon.

The van will provide gifts and perform acts of goodwill throughout the area. Net of Compassion is one of several stops the van made Saturday.  Net of Compassion is a nonprofit organization that directly provides food, clothing, shelter, showers and recovery support to individuals on the streets of Worcester. WooSox Foundation team members handed out blankets, hats and COVID-19 tests

"We are very honored today to have the WooSox Foundation here joining us at Net of Compassion," said Pastor Richie Gonzalez. "That’s what Net of Compassion is all about. It’s about putting all the threads together to form one net and make a difference in the community. And it’s not just baseball, it’s compassion through baseball."

"The WooSox Foundation caravan essentially - it’s just going to help out the community, in whatever way, whatever capacity," said Alex Richardson, the WooSox manager of Baseball Operations and Community Relations. "We’re just excited to be here at Net of Compassion helping out.  I know it’s raining out but there’s still a lot of people here, still a lot of people we need to help and support. So we are just happy to contribute in some sort of fashion."

The inside of the Care-A-Van features a shower, toilet, sink, fridge, and couch. The team says books and clothing items will be stored inside as well.
