WORCESTER, Mass. - To help refugees settle into their new homes, the Higher Education Consortium of Central Massachusetts held a furniture drive on Friday.

People could donate gently used furniture. WPI students also spent the past few days collecting furniture.

They expect to help nearly 750 refugees with donations.

“It’s really nice. We know the hardships they’ve gone through in their countries,” WPI freshman Jai Jariwala said. “The need to settle down in a new country to have a safe space and we love to help them as this is our country and our area.”

HECCMA will hold the drive again on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at WPI’s alumni stadium.
