AUSTIN, Texas -- Twelve years ago on Saturday, a young woman went missing without a trace in North Austin.

Her family still meets in the area she went missing every year, hoping their fliers will drive someone to come forward with information.

Elizabeth Harris and her family gather on Rundberg Lane on July 7 every year. The street is near where Harris' 18-year-old daughter, Roxanne Paltauf, went missing on Interstate 35.

"It never gets easier, actually it gets harder because you want it to stop and go away," said Harris.

Her family said Paltauf was celebrating an anniversary with her then-boyfriend at a motel. He told Harris they got into a fight and she left, which is the last known time anyone saw Paltauf.

"This feels so unjust that something that happened to my sister and it's been 12 years and we don't know what happened. All we want as a family is to grieve and to have closure," said Paltauf's sister, Rosalyn Schultz.

Her family said there was never enough evidence about what happened to Paltauf or that her then-boyfriend played a role in her disappearance. Schultz said she loved her family and it wasn't like her to just leave, especially being just one test away from her GED and looking into colleges.

"She had a check she needed to cash. She had two jobs. She was blossoming into a young woman," said Schultz.

Police described Paltauf's disappearance as suspicious, but most tips that turned into leads have come up empty. In the last 12 years, many family members have moved outside of Austin.

Harris moved out of state, but she continues to make the annual trip back to this ongoing nightmare, knowing one tip could give them the closure they need.

"There must be a missing link here. We need to put the information together to find her," said Harris.

Anyone with any information about the case, is asked to contact the Austin Police Department's Missing Person's Unit at 512-974-5250.
