The day dawned sunny and cold with most lows in the 40s.  The low of 41 at Austin-Bergstrom set a new daily record.  The previous record was 42 set in 2001.  Austin-Mabry's low was 49.

This day's normal high is 81 degrees.  The forecast is for most lows in the low to mid 80s.

Upper-level high pressure is moving across Texas.  There is a trough behind it ... over New Mexico ... sending clouds through west Texas eastward.  Some of those clouds should reach the Hill Country during the afternoon.   Low-level clouds should be increasing by tomorrow morning due to the Gulf flow.  Lows Thursday morning will range from 56 to 60.

Futurecast was picking on some small isolated areas of rain Thursday enough for the forecast to include a less than 20% probability.  Most highs tomorrow under a mostly cloudy sky will range from 78 to 82.  The trough moves over the area Friday with a 30% chance of showers/storms and highs again in the upper 70s to low 80s.

The first trough slides east but will be followed by a faster moving trough moving out of the Rockies.  A low chance of rain will remain in Saturday's forecast with highs in the low to mid 80s.

Sunday is the next transition from warm air to cooler air.  A cold front enters the area during the pre-dawn hours carrying it with the potential for showers and thunderstorms before sunrise. The front will pass south of Austin after daybreak but before noon.  There is a good chance of rain in the morning that could linger into the early afternoon.

The wind will come out of the NW Sunday afternoon ... as it did this past Sunday afternoon ... with the highest afternoon temperatures in the low to mid 70s.

Another ridge of high pressure heads to the western half of the country to provide a dry NW flow aloft leading to a bright Monday to Wednesday forecast.

What the front does to temperatures is part of your 7 Day Forecast.

It's back to DKR Texas Memorial Stadium Saturday for the Horns.  Conditions for the 11 a.m. kick vs. Oklahoma State are mostly cloudy with a temperature in the upper 70s.  The wind will come from the south to southeast near 10 mph.

Have a good day.
