Conditions aren't the best out there for travel this morning, including some pockets of thick fog and drizzle.  The lowest clouds should break up through the morning yet we'll remain primarily cloudy and coolish today with an overall 30% rain chance.  Our forecast calls for highs in the low 60s today.

The conveyor belt of Pacific moisture continues to flow directly overhead, and that's the primary reason for all the cloud cover today.  We see a large disturbance swirling over northern Mexico just to the west of El Paso.  Computer models say it'll slowly accelerate towards the Red River Valley, crossing over North Texas during the next 24 hours.  As it does so, the rain chance comes up to 80% tomorrow and we might find a few thunderstorms in the mix, too.

At the surface, we're in for light winds today that will eventually become southeasterly.  That flow from the Gulf of Mexico will bring in more humidity between now and tomorrow afternoon.  The front tied to this disturbance will move southwest to northeast across our region during the day tomorrow, and Futurecast shows a broken line of showers & storms in tow.  Once the front arrives, northerly winds will take hold and most of the rain will move east fairly quickly.

Warmer 70s are on the way for Wednesday & Thursday, then the much advertised blast of polar air will sweep across Texas on Friday.  We've got a chance for rain as it arrives but, unlike what models were showing last week, the chance for a wintry mix -- including the threat for ice -- looks to have diminished for our area.  That said, there could still be lots of changes to the forecast so be sure to stay tuned!  As of now, it looks like a band of snow could develop and move across the northernmost part of Texas by Sunday as another surge of frigid air arrives.  It'll take parts of our area down to a freeze as soon as Saturday night.  See the 7 Day Forecast for more.

Be prepared for a very cold Christmas!  As it looks right now, we're in for a morning freeze next Monday with highs only in the 50s.

Enjoy the weather!
