Mohawk Ambulance will be working with both the city and county of Albany to help get the COVID-19 vaccine out.

The partnership was announced at a press conference Sunday. Mohawk received state approval to administer the vaccine yesterday. The partnership was spurred by the need to vaccinate those who are 75 and older. The plan is to go to various senior housing complexes to give out the vaccine.

The city also plans on training its firefighters to help with the effort. Right now there is no time frame on when Mohawk will distribute the vaccine.

The city and county are working to identify those seniors. The county also doesn't have the vaccine supply needed to start vaccinating through this partnership.

Meanwhile, the death toll continues to rise in Albany County, with a man in his 20s passing away in the past 24 hours. He's the county's youngest victim yet.
