Several pets have been rescued from a house fire in Troy.

The two-alarm fire broke out on 6th Avenue just before noon Thursday. Firefighters believe it started on the first floor and spread to the second floor.

The cause is still under investigation.

Those living in the home had several pets, and crews are working to make sure all animals are accounted for.

"Not all the animals have been found. We're holding out hope," said Troy Assistant Fire Chief Eric McMahon. "Cats have a tendency to hide in the strangest places, so we're trying to make certain that all of the animals are accounted for."

The fire caused significant damage to the home.
