Dozens of people have been displaced in Albany after two separate fires Sunday, and several buildings are set to come down.

Demolition equipment was on the scene Monday morning on Bradford Street, as seven of the eight buildings affected by Sunday's fire will be demolished as early as the afternoon.

Displaced families were back Monday morning in an attempt to recover some of their belongings, including important documents, safes, and clothing. The Red Cross says it provided immediate emergency aid to at least 48 people.

Another 15 people were affected by a fire on Third Avenue, which broke out just minutes after the first fire Sunday. That home has already been demolished.

On Monday, Albany police recognized two of their own, Sgt. Christopher Cornell and Officer Joshua Sears, for rescuing a 3-year-old boy trapped inside the Third Avenue home. The building was home to 15 people.
