State lawmakers are trying to strengthen protections against identity theft after the Equifax hack. As you'll recall, more than 140 million people had their information stolen in a data breach at the credit reporting agency. The Senate Standing Committee on consumer protection has been looking into what happened, and what options are available to victims of the hack. And the committee is now out with eight recommendations for the state and federal government, ranging from making it easier to freeze your credit to setting security standards for companies.
