There are plenty of differences from New York City to Albany and the Adirondacks — so many, in fact, some feel like they are two different states entirely.

The question is: Could a separation of upstate and downstate New York actually happen? Answering that question is the goal of a study proposed by State Senator Daphne Jordan.

The analysis would take a look at how much it would cost to separate, the economic impact and the legal ramification. The study would run through the comptroller's office.

There's no word on how much it would cost to do the study.

The proposal has been referred to the finance committee.
