CHARLOTTE -- A Charlotte woman's mugshot is being seen around the world, not because of what she did, but because she's using it as a marketing tool.

Shia Yearwood, a local hairstylist, says she got a call to turn herself in to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office for violating a protective custody order.

Yearwood says before she turned herself in, she made sure to look good for her mugshot.

"I kind of prepared myself the night before. I did my braids, I did my make-up, because I knew there's a page that puts people's mugshots out there," Yearwood says.

Charlotte Mugshots tweeted her picture, and people immediately started commenting on her hair.

Yearwood says since the picture was tweeted, her phone has been ringing non-stop with people trying to make appointments.

"I normally get consistent clients every week, but this time, based on the mugshot, I got a lot of requests from men and women," she says. "I've gotten so many that I have to go to the Sprint store and see if they can do anything about my phone overheating."

Yearwood says she's already booking appointments through March, as she works to make the best of the situation.
