DURHAM, N.C. -- A man was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning.

It happened just after 1 a.m. on Interstate 540 eastbound at the I-40 interchange in Durham.

The State Highway Patrol said the 37 year old was walking in the east bound far left lane of I-540 when he was struck.

He was taken to Duke Hospital and is expected to survive.

The driver of the car will not face charges.
