FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Selima Sims has worked at Terry Sanford High School for the last four years. The last two of those, she's been the school's chief custodian.

  • Her colleagues there praise her can-do attitude and her ability to work with anybody
  • Earlier this school year, she became the first recipient of the Extra Mile Award. That's an honor given by the Cumberland County School system.
  • It's awarded to county school employees who constantly achieve a high level of excellence on the job and motivate others to also work hard

When we visited the school for this story, people at the school kept coming up to sing her praises and to give her hugs. The mascot for Terry Sanford High School is the bulldog and Selima Sims is a big part of what folks call...The Bulldog Family.

Earlier this school year, she became the first recipient of the Extra Mile Award. That's an honor given by the Cumberland County School system.
