NORTH CAROLINA — Local grocery store chains are shrinking their hours as the coronavirus continues to spread.

  • Starting Sunday night, Harris Teeter will be closing its stores at 9 p.m.
  • Publix already made similar changes by closing its stores last night at 8 p.m.
  • Walmart also announced it will be adopting new hours, from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Starting Sunday night, Harris Teeter will be closing its stores at 9 p.m.

The company says its to focus on cleaning, replenishment, and the well-being of its employees.

The new hours will be in effect until further notice.

Publix already made similar changes by closing its stores last night at 8 p.m.

The company says they’re closing early to give the store team enough time to sanitize the store and restock.

Walmart also announced it will be adopting new hours, from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., for similar reasons.
