BERTIE COUNTY, N.C. -- The National Weather Service on Wednesday confirmed an EF3 tornado ripped through a mobile home park during Hurricane Isaias, killing two and injuring 14 others.

According to a report released by the NWS, the tornado hit around 1:15 a.m. in the area of Knowles Lane, and traveled to Governors Road over a span of roughly 15 minutes. Maximum wind speeds have been estimated at around 140-145 mph.

The NWS says seven single- and double-wide homes were flattened near Morning Road. "Unrecognizable bits of debris" were also left throughout the area.

Two people were killed during the destruction, and 14 others were injured. 

So far, at least nine deaths, including those in North Carolina, have been attributed to Hurricane Isaias. 

Other deaths include people in Maryland, Connecticut, New York City, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Hampshire.

The NWS on Tuesday confirmed four other tornadoes during the storm. The strengths ranged from EF0 to EF1.
