CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Rosa Parks Farmers Market on Beatties Ford Road is continuing to bring fresh produce to a food desert during the pandemic.

Customers have to wear a mask and there are markers on the floor for social distancing.

Everything comes from local farmers and neighborhood collectives.

The Males Place, a group mentoring young men in the Charlotte area, sells produce from their own garden at the market.

According to Varnell Bien-Aime of The Males Place, every Rosa Parks Farmers Market vendor will honor SNAP benefits through their system.

The Mecklenburg County Health Department co-founded the market and is also there every week with healthy living information and resources.

The Rosa Parks Farmers Market runs from 3pm to 7pm every Tuesday at the corner of Beatties Ford Road and Lasalle Street in Charlotte.
