Sunday she traveled to Charlotte for Cummings' in-person workout class

People traveled from across the country to take her class Sunday morning in Charlotte.

One North Carolina woman works out to her videos every day and traveled more than two hours to meet the woman who helped her lose 130 pounds.

“I’m so excited! It’s going to be so good!” Annamayo Bowman said.

Bowman lost 130 pounds in a little over a year.

She started working out during the pandemic to Cummings' videos.

“Losing weight itself had been a lot of ups and downs, both emotionally and physically. Sydney has been really positive in helping figure out what my body needs,” Bowman said.

During the pandemic Bowman and her friends would videochat every day and work out together.

“We video call each other all at the same time, and we go 3, 2, 1 go! And play our videos at the same time,” Bowman said.

It was a way for Bowman and her friends to stay active during the stay-at-home order that quickly became a lifestyle.

They traveled from Cary to Charlotte to spend the weekend working out in person with Cummings.

“This is so much fun, it’s something that I do every day. I work out with her every day, and if I get the opportunity to work out with her in person, that’s so cool. I mean she supports us, and we would like to support her!” Bowman said.

“I’ve probably teared up about three times today, because I know that these people really want this for themselves, and I’m just so grateful to be a part of what they’re doing in their own lives,” Cummings said.

Bowman had the opportunity to meet Cummings, and she said the experience of getting ready for that meet and greet is something she’ll never forget.

“We got to clothes swap, and I’ve never been able to swap clothes with my friends before, and so that was a treat that I’ve never experienced ... actually the dress that I wore to meet Sydney was my friend's, and I felt so special,” Bowman said.

It’s been a memorable year to say the least. Bowman says she’s gained more confidence in herself and her strength all around.

“Oh, I’m so proud of myself. I couldn’t have made it this far if I wasn’t proud of myself. It’s important, you have to have that mindset behind it and be proud of yourself, that’s an important part of losing weight and getting healthy,” she said.

About 500 people showed up to the Spectrum Center Sunday morning for the workout class.

Everyone was asked to wear masks and be 6 feet apart.
