It wasn't detailed in his State of the State address Wednesday, but Governor Andrew Cuomo plans to invest $34 million into Stewart International Airport.

"The infrastructure is growing our economy," Cuomo said. "We're ahead of every other state in the nation in terms of infrastructure development. And we must increase our advantage this year, and double down on our investments."

Most of that money would fund a 20,000 square-foot terminal addition and build a permanent federal inspection station.

"I'm very pleased that the governor is supporting the efforts that the commission was making over the last year, asking the Port Authority to fund the addition of the building of this federal inspection station, which is so badly needed since the arrival of Norwegian Air," said Stewart Airport Commission Chairperson Lou Heimbach.

The remaining $7 million would go towards solar panel installations to power most of the main terminal, and install electric car charging stations.

Cuomo touts investments into tourism as a huge economic impact for the state -- a note Assemblyman Karl Brabenec agrees with.

"Infrastructure improvements to Stewart Airport was a good highlight of the speech," said Brabenec (R - Westbrookville). "I think that will spur economic development in the Hudson Valley, which is important."

Cuomo proposed other changes, like re-naming the airport "New York International at Stewart Field," and enhancing bus services to and from Manhattan.
