Garnet Health is closing some outpatient services in Middletown, including obstetrician and gynecologist services (OBGYN).

Hospital officials said they are dealing with a lower volume of patients, supply chain issues and a significant increases in expenses. This led them to implement a financial recovery plan.

The plan includes closing not only outpatient OBGYN services, but also outpatient pediatric and rheumatology practices. Officials have also moved to an on-call model for staffing during overnight shifts in the operating room.

Overnight operating room services are not discontinued, and inpatient services are also not impacted.

Garnet Health officials are trying to work with community partners who offer those outpatient services so that patient care can be maintained without interruption.
