About 30 students at the Icahn School of Medicine are helping out frontline staff working in the Mount Sinai Health System.

Some students are now babysitting and even pet sitting the children and animals of frontline staff working in the Mount Sinai Health System.

Many of the students started last month after the coronavirus forced the school to suspend their clinical rotations.

They are also running errands for the staff and doing it all free of charge.

"I just thought what would I want if I was a doctor responding to this. And, um, I thought that I would want to know that my family was taken care of," said volunteer Katie Donovan.

Students have also been volunteering in Mount Sinai's pharmacy, fitting face shields for medical staff, coordinating food donations and more.
