NEW YORK — A man dining outside a Manhattan restaurant is recovering after being shot while trying to fight off two armed robbers Wednesday night.

The New York City Police Department says it happened just after 10 p.m. at Philippe Chow restaurant on East 60th Street in Lenox Hill.

Police say a 28-year-old man was sitting in the outdoor dining area when two armed suspects approached him and robbed him of his Rolex watch.

Investigators say the man fought back and struggled to gain control of the suspect's gun when the it fired, hitting the victim in his left leg.

The two suspects then fled in a car.

The victim is expected to be okay and no arrests have been made.
