MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin has recorded its highest number of single-day confirmed COVID-19 cases.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported 8,058 new cases on Tuesday. This is the highest number of cases since the pandemic began, and the first time the state crossed 8,000 in a single day.

The additional caseload brings the total number in Wisconsin up to 1,013,239.

Wisconsin health officials on Monday reported the state passed one million confirmed COVID-19 cases following the holiday weekend.

The seven-day rolling average for the state is now 5,711 cases per day. The seven-day average for percent positive by test is 24.1%

More than 10,000 Wisconsinites have died due to complications from the virus since the pandemic began, per DHS data.

Just over 58% of all eligible Wisconsinites are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
