ORLANDO, Fla. — Authorities have arrested a Mount Dora man on a charge of arson following Tuesday's fire at the iconic Beefy King restaurant in Orlando.

John Huff, 36, is charged with arson and criminal mischief. Authorities arrested him Tuesday night.

“That was a big sigh,” said Roland Smith, one of Beefy King’s owners. “We just hope now that the justice system will do what they need to do, and this guy gets what he deserves for what he did.”

The fire started sometime before 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, near the exterior rear of the building on North Bumby Avenue, according to Orlando Fire Department officials. Firefighters put out the flames quickly, so there was minimal damage, according to management at Beefy King.

No one was hurt.

Several people stopped by the restaurant Tuesday and Wednesday, offering their support to the owners.

“We just cannot thank everybody enough for what the community has done in support for us,” Smith said.

He hopes to reopen Beefy King on Monday.
