BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — The Department of Corrections inmate who walked away from a "Bridges" work release program in Cocoa on Tuesday night was taken back into custody at about 9 a.m. Wednesday, the sheriff’s office said.
Gregory Mountcasel, 32, was apprehended after he walked out of a wooded area near Camp Road in Cocoa and turned himself in, the sheriff's office said.
Mountcasel was taken to the Brevard County Jail Complex. He has a no bond status and will face charges of escape and tampering with an electronic monitoring device, authorities said.
He had walked away from a work release program at about 9:30 p.m. and cut off his electronic monitor, sheriff's deputies said. He already had been serving a two-year sentence for fleeing and eluding and driving without a license, deputies said.
