ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The recent COVID-19 surge, and corresponding high patient volume, have prompted Strong Memorial Hospital to update its visitation policy temporarily.

Patients in most areas of the hospital will now only be allowed one designated visitor throughout their stay. The current policy allows two visitors per patient.

For the emergency department, zero visitors will be allowed compared to the current policy of one.

Visitation exceptions remain in place and pediatric patients will be allowed to continue to have two visitors.

The changes will take effect on Thursday and will apply only to Strong Memorial Hospital. Each hospital within the UR Medicine system sets its own visitation policy based on its current census and ability to accommodate visitors.
