ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The driver in an overnight crash faces charges after police say he and one of his passengers fled the scene.

Around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to the corner of Silver and Kensington Streets, where they found a car that went off the road and hit a tree.

Only one person was there, unconscious in the backseat. The 30-year-old was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Less than half an hour later, police got a call for a reported assault on Tremont Street.

Police say once they got there, they realized it was the driver from the original crash. The 21-year-old was also taken to Strong for his injuries.

A second passenger was also located, but police say he was uninjured.

Charges are expected to be filed against the driver.
