The Bills are known to have one of the rowdiest fan bases in the NFL, and with the home opener this weekend, you can expect security to be ramped up come Sunday around New Era Field.

Officials say the number one priority is the safety of the fans, the stadium’s staff and the team. That’s why hundreds of law enforcement officers will be on and around the grounds during home games.

The biggest change this year for fans is the creation of Tailgate Village. The reserved space will include tables, tents and chairs for fans to tailgate. It also accommodates buses, limos and vehicles with 11 or more people.

“The Buffalo Bills are all about tailgating. Bills fans are passionate, they’re loyal, they’re some of the best in the NFL and this new program enhances that for all of our fans,” said Andy Major, Bills Operations and Guest Experience vice president.

The Bills are also trying to improve the fan experience with some new food additions.

There are five new concession items, including a Greek chicken wrap and hot honey chicken and waffles. Four additions were made to the club menu, like the toasted PB&J and a fried bologna sandwich.

And then if you’re up in the suites, you can now get homemade gourmet nuts, a barbecue tailgate platter, German potato salad, and chilled tenderloin sliders.

“I like the poutine, I think it’s a good spin on beef on weck in Buffalo and being so close to Canada it’s a good comfort food, especially being back-ended with the cold winter games this year,” said Jonathan Wilson, executive chef.

Wilson also says if you’re new to the stadium, definitely try the chicken and waffles.
