SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio now has more options for children and their families to play and exercise.

What was once a unusable space is now a soccer field, walking trail, and a brand new basketball court.

Just in time for Final Four, the NCAA, and partners - like David ‘The Admiral’ Robinson – teamed up to open Legacy Park at Higgs Carter King Academy on the city's West Side.

The former NBA Spurs player said revamping spaces like this are critical to our community.

“Kids need places to play, and learn, and grow. I’ve learned as much on a basketball court as I have in any other part of my life,” Robinson said.

“That’s what’s important to us at the NCAA – is education, and pursuit of competitive athletics in basketball in particular,” Dan Gavitt, NCAA Basketball Senior Vice President said.

Through contributions and sponsors, Legacy Park marks the 21st school park built since the San Antonio Sports School Park program began six years ago.
