UPDATE:

SAN ANTONIO – Murder charges have been dismissed for the killing of a 29-year-old San Antonio man.

Savawn Kyle, 26, was arrested in March of 2017 for the murder of Renard Smith. Police originally believed Kyle shot Smith over money at Midcrown Convenience Store in October 2016.

During his arrest, as San Antonio Police led Kyle to the Bexar County Jail, he told us, "Ya'll need to go get that mix tape."

While the murder charges were dropped, Kyle is facing other charges, including possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Jury selection for that case began on Monday, but they were unable to select a jury.

*The story has been updated to correct that Kyle’s murder charges were dropped, but that he is still facing other charges.
