ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Showers and storms will move through the region overnight, coming in from the Gulf of Mexico and moving eastward through the early morning hours. Some will be heavy with strong winds.

The rainfall amounts will be good, with many spots ending up with more than an inch of rain.

The rain will quickly exit after sunrise Thursday morning, with drier, cooler air rushing into the region.

As a result, temperatures will not change a lot between now and the morning, holding in the 60s.

Skies will still be cloudy for the first half of the day but then clear out in the late afternoon.

By Friday morning the lows will be back down in the 30s and 40s.

Friday will be a chilly day, with highs only in the 50s. But the good news is it will be a mostly sunny day.

Friday night will be mostly clear and cold, with lows again in the 30s and 40s.

Saturday will be partly to variably cloudy, with a small chance for a passing sprinkle or shower. Highs will be in the low 60s.

Sunday will be mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of seeing some passing showers, with the best chance south of the bay. Highs will again be in the low 60s.

A better chance of rain showers will pass through Monday with highs again in the low 60s.
