TAMPA, Fla. — Coming off a historic letdown, the Tampa Bay Lightning once again has its sights set on hoisting the Stanley Cup next June.

The Bolts are back, dropping the puck on the 2019-2020 season. Tonight's pre-season opener begins at 7 p.m.

Tampa Bay will face the Carolina Hurricanes.

The biggest storyline as the regular season approaches is the crushing first-round sweep last in last season's Stanley Cup Playoffs. Coming off a historic regular season that saw the Lightning post 62 wins, the team shockingly exited the playoffs in just four games at the hands of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Still, the Lightning open this season as one of the best teams in the NHL and hope shake off the disappointment of last season and make another Stanley Cup run.

The regular season begins Oct. 3.
