SARASOTA, Fla. — A Sarasota food drive that was supposed to begin at 9 a.m. started even earlier Saturday, with dozens of cars waiting in line ready to receive a meal.

All Faiths Food Bank distributed thousands of boxes of locally grown food and snacks at Ed Smith Stadium to families directly affected by the pandemic.
“We are distributing 120 percent more food every week compared to last year,” said All Faiths Food Bank chairperson Nelle Miller.
Florida unemployment jumped from 2.8 percent in February to 4.3 percent in March according to the U.S. Federal Reserve.
“It’s devastating,” Miller said.
With the help of the National Guard, All Faiths donated enough food to feed nearly 4,000 people in the Bay area.
Even though these donations temporarily fix a need, the group hopes every box is a reminder that in this community no battle is fought alone.
“Every little bit of community help is amazing,” says resident Jennifer Rodgers.
