PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — As investigators continue to build a case against Kathleen Moore’s suspected killer, her family is worried that some people are trying to exploit her death to make a quick dollar.

“At this time, there are many people attempting to leech off of my sister's death/case. We are trying to be careful of any potential scams,” she wrote.

The only outlet for donations that the Moore family says they support is the ongoing fundraiser at Whiskey Wings in St. Petersburg, which is where Kathleen worked as a manager.
Her coworkers and friends set up at table in the bar area and filled it with candles, pictures, and notes to Kathleen. The restaurant is working to create a permanent memorial in the dining room and also raise money to help victims of domestic violence find their way into better situations.
“I don’t want her death to be in vein, and I want her name to live on,” said Jaimie Poe, Kathleen’s boss.
A vigil for Kathleen was set for Wednesday night at 7:30 in New Port Richey.
Moore’s body was located Tuesday in the woods near Carmel Avenue, the street that her boyfriend Collin Knapp lives on. He was taken into custody and charged in connection to Moore’s death.
