GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Tenants at the Ray Warren Homes off Gate City Boulevard in Greensboro say they're grateful their units are getting much need updates. But, those updates have come with headaches.

• Residents at Ray Warren Homes are happy for renovations, but experiencing headaches.
• Greensboro housing authority has offered residents motel rooms and bus passes.
• Renovations expected to finish up in October. 

They say they've been forced outdoors while crews are working in their units. One person tells us she and her family had to stay at a motel because her daughter had allergic reactions to debris.

"She broke out on the first night that they didn't even let us know that electricians were coming to dig holes in the ceiling,” says Shantavea Perry. “So for like three weeks we had to sleep with holes in the ceiling. They're just covering them now but they're still half covered."

Greensboro Housing Authority paid for the hotel Perry and her kids have been staying in. The housing complex says they told tenants months in advance the plans for renovation and offered residents motel rooms if they needed it.

During the day, the housing authority has given bus passes to a center to let people get away while their place is being worked on. The renovations of all 230 units should be completed by October.
