After a cold start with morning lows in the 20s, all day sunshine will warm Wednesday afternoon's highs to the low and mid 50s across central North Carolina. While it will be pretty cool through the day, it will be milder than Monday and Tuesday when highs only topped out in the 40s.

Highs in the 50s are forecast again for Thursday after early morning lows near freezing. Most of the day will be dry, but our next chance for rain will arrive Thursday evening through the early morning hours Friday. Scattered light showers are expected during that time. Rainfall amounts should be less than a tenth of an inch.

Any light showers from late Thursday night should come to an end by around or before sunrise Friday. Most of the day Friday will be partly sunny with highs near 60.

Rain is expected again over the weekend with the highest chance coming from Saturday night through Sunday. Anywhere from a half inch to one inch of rain is forecast.

Much colder air will move into North Carolina behind this weekend's rain. Low temperatures will drop to the upper teens and low 20s by sunrise Monday. With breezy conditions at the time, it could feel more like the single digits in some parts of central North Carolina.
