RALEIGH, N.C. -- E. coli levels are at almost double the Environmental Protection Agency standards in a portion of the Neuse River for the second week in a row.

• The water tests were done by the non-profit Sound Rivers NC.
• They say the affected area is the Buffaloe Road Canoe Launch.
• They're not sure why the levels are so high, but point out heavy rains can bring storm water runoff with fecal bacteria.

They're not sure why the levels are so high, but point out heavy rains can bring storm water runoff with fecal bacteria. While they caution using the site recreationally, people on the river say they're not too worried.

"I've been here for a while. I've floated this thing for 10 years, I think we'll be fine. No concerns really," Bryan Covington, who was floating down the river, said.

The non-profit plans to do additional testing of the river at Buffaloe Road next week, to hopefully find the source of the E. coli.
