The university will be selling beer and wine at the beginning of its home opener against Miami September 7.

Beer and wine will be sold at 20 concessions locations at Kenan Stadium 90 minutes before kickoff and will end at the beginning of the third quarter.

No alcohol will be allowed in the student section, and they will closely monitor sales and the impact on gameday atmosphere.

The school says it's still finalizing operational details including safety, control and training.

UNC says, "Proceeds generated by sales will go to the University to benefit the Carolina Covenant, the Faculty Excellence Program and an alcohol education program in coordination with the Office of Student Affairs. We still are considering whether alcohol will be served at other Carolina sporting events and venues this year."
