An annual Model United Nations Conference gets a virtual twist for one central Massachusetts high school.

The Model UN Club at St. John’s had their students on campus and more than 200 students from other schools join via Zoom Saturday. It was the school's 33rd year holding the event.

Senior Jackson Andrews says he is grateful to have the support from their faculty to be able to host this activity.

Andrews was also excited to see the support from other students because he thought it would be more difficult during the pandemic.

"I was pleasantly surprised we had a huge turnout for a lot of newer what we call delegates in Model UN, which is awesome. Usually it’s kind of a hard sell, especially in a year like this. We thought our attendance numbers might go down, but this year a lot of the kids have been interested in doing something after school. And I think it helps with a lot of sports not running, kids have more time to do Model UN with us," said Andrews.

St. John’s made sure all students on campus were socially distant and wore masks.
