MASS. - Many people are spending Monday cleaning up from Tropical Storm Henri and the Better Business Bureau is warning residents to be on the lookout for who they call "storm chasers.”

The BBB says these people take advantage of unsuspecting consumers after destructive weather events.

They may not all be scammers, but they may lack the proper licensing, offer quick fixes or make big promises they cannot deliver on.

Nancy Cahalen is the president and CEO of the Better Business Bureau serving Central and Western Massachusetts.

Cahalen says you should always contact your insurance company and be careful of door-to-door contractors.

"Use good judgment, ask for ID. In a lot of municipalities, before they can go door to door and solicite business. Look outside, look for a car. What are the plates on the car? Where are they from?,” Cahalen said. “These are all things that would be in the best interest of the homeowner."

Cahalen says if you're concerned about a business, you can look them up at bbb.org to find out more information on the company.
