WORCESTER, Mass. - Spreading some joy and a few smiles. It’s the goal of a new kindness rocks garden outside the DCU Center in Worcester.

Digital Federal Credit Union employees installed the community garden on Friday. They hope it will bring people together and they’re encouraging others to paint their own inspirational messages on rocks to share them.

They say if you see a rock with a message with meaning to you, take it. And if you create a rock meaningful to another person, you can leave it.

“It’s been kind of a rough couple of years for people and just everything else involved, so sometimes kindness can go a long way and it doesn’t cost a dime,” Ed Niser, corporate communications manager at Digital Federal Credit Union, said. “It doesn’t cost a dime to be kind so it’s one way for us to be able to give back and bring some kindness and brighten someone’s day.”

DCU purchased 1,800 rock kits for its team members, and another 1,800 were donated to community organizations.

The painted rocks will be on display through Labor Day at the DCU Center’s main arena entrance on Foster Street.
